外语教育与国际商务学院始建于1978年，到目前为止，已有40多年的办学历史。建院之初只有英语教育专科专业。现拥有英语本科、日语本科、商务英语本科三个专业，在校学生900人，同时承担全校大学外语教学任务。                                                  

学院于2001年与河北大学联办师范类本科，2002年开始招收专接本学生。2007年，英语专业被国家教育部批准独立招收本科学生，成为保定学院首批六个本科专业之一。2009年，日语本科专业被批准开始招生。2018年3月，商务英语本科专业获准开始招生。  

学院现有教师82名，其中正高级职称6人、副高级职称23人；学位结构方面，博士1人，在读博士5人，具有硕士学位的教师69人，澳大利亚、新西兰、日本留学归国学者6人，3位教师曾在国外从事对外汉语教学。常年聘请高水平外教3～5人。2006年，两位外教获得河北省政府授予外国专家的最高奖“燕赵友谊奖”。  

 为提高教学水平，学院教师近三年承担并完成省、市级教研、科研课题17项，发表国家级、省级学术论文122篇。近三年教师在河北省高校外语教学大赛中，两名教师获特等奖、两名教师获得一等奖、两名教师获二等奖、多名教师获三等奖；获省特等奖教师代表河北省参加国家级比赛并荣获三等奖。教师指导的学生在世纪之星外语演讲大赛、英语写作、英语阅读等专业比赛中分获特等、一、二、三等奖。  

学院办学规模逐年扩大，办学层次不断提高，办学条件也随之明显改善。根据外语教学特点，学院专门设计建造了独具风格的外语教学楼，建设了校园专业外语和大学外语两套无线调频广播系统，学生配备耳机定时接收外语广播节目。学院现有同声传译室1个，商务英语实训室1个，语言实验室14个，多媒体教室22个，英语文化体验空间、日语文化体验空间、模拟新闻发布厅各1个。学院资料室拥有各类外语图书8000余册，期刊24种。这些设施为外语教学、学习提供了保障。  

With a history that dates back to 1978, the College of Foreign Language Education &International Business in Baoding University now has three majors: English, Japanese and Business English. There are eighty-two full-time teachers and two foreign teachers (in the year 2021), teaching more than 900 majors in the college as well as non-majors in the whole university.  

Based on teaching and aiming to improve the approaches of teaching, the faculty do research projects of municipal and provincial levels. In the recent three years, the faculty have completed 17 projects and published 122 papers in journals of national and provincial levels. Moreover, more than 20 teachers have participated in teaching contests, micro-lesson contests of national and provincial levels and got special prizes, first and second prizes. Under the guidance of the teachers, the students have also achieved success in speech contests, writing, reading and debate contests, wining special prize, first, second and third prizes at provincial level.  

The department has excellent facilities, including a high-standard simultaneous interpretation system, 14 language labs, special rooms for English and Japanese culture, one room for news release, one reference room and 22 multi-media classrooms, which provide much convenience for language teaching and learning.  

For the students, there are rich extracurricular activities in organizations such as English club, Japanese club, English speaking and debating association, etc., which play a very positive role in enhancing foreign language learning atmosphere.
